Dr Patil Appointed UTI AMC Chairman

Dr R.H. Patil has been appointed as the Chairman of UTI Asset Management Company Private Limited (UTI AMC) with the concurrence of UTI Trustee Company Pvt Ltd.

Dr Patil has been associated closely with the financial sector and the capital market in particular in various capacities. He has been instrumental in setting up National Stock Exchange of India Ltd (NSEIL) as its first Managing Director and CEO.

After a period of two years on the faculty of Post Graduate Department of Economics in the University of Bombay, Dr Patil joined erstwhile Economic Department of the Reserve Bank of India in 1968. He joined Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) in 1975 and was Executive Director in charge of direct loans, treasury functions, research and planning and merchant banking activities before he was appointed as the first Managing Director & CEO of National Stock Exchange of India Ltd (NSEIL) in 1993. After retiring from NSEIL he became Chairman of the Clearing Corporation of India Ltd (CCIL) in May 2001.

Dr Patil was associated with Asian Development Bank, National Securities Clearing Corporation Ltd (NSCCL), National Securities and Depositories Ltd (NSDL), Stock Holding Corporation of India Ltd and Credit Analysis and Research Ltd (CARE).

He has also served as the Chairman, Disinvestment Commission, during July 2001 to May 2004.
