How will my SIP investments get updated in VR portfolio post SEBI's new NAV rules?

I have been facing an issue while updating my SIP investments in the 'My Investment' tool on Value Research Online, ever since SEBI changed the rule on the date of allotting units w.r.t. realisation of funds. Suppose my SIP date is February 1 and the AMC realises the money on February 5, it will assign the NAV on February 5 only. How will it get updated on the VR portfolio?

Well yes, there has been an operational hassle owing to this recent change in regulation. So what has happened is, earlier, for investments up to Rs 2 lakh, you could get the NAV of the same date as the date of your SIP. But now what SEBI has said is, you would get the units allotted at an NAV only of the date on which the SIP money hits the bank account of the mutual-fund scheme.

What happens is, from your SIP date, there might be a delay of about one to three days depending on the efficiency of the payment process, which is being used in your case. So, there could be a delay from the actual date of SIP, which you have recorded or which you mandated while filling up the form and when the money actually hits the bank account of the scheme. Depending upon when it hits the bank account, you would be allotted the NAV of that date.

So what has happened is that for portfolio planning systems like the one on Value Research Online (VRO), if somebody comes and sets up an SIP on a set date, but the actual transaction happens when the money gets credited to the scheme, which could be two or three days later. So the actual date for the SIP transaction may not be the preset date of SIP. There is no way to pre-empt when the money would get credited and what date I would get the NAV of. That has created this bit of a hassle.

For now, the only solution which I suggest and which would work pretty well is to use the auto-import functionality of the My Investments tool on VRO where one can simply use that auto-import functionality every month. It is quick, simple and efficient to use. Trigger an auto-import and that will capture the transactions accurately and on the date when they actually occur. So one would not need to do any manual entries and yet be able to capture all the transactions efficiently and quickly.
