Should I port my health plan or buy a top up?

Since you were already insured for the last 5 years the premium for a new health plan not be very high

I bought a family floater plan of BOI Swasthya BIMA policy of National Insurance Co 5 years ago with sum insured of ₹5 lakhs. The premium is ₹7000 annually. Now I am 55 & thinking of increasing the cover to ₹10-15 lakh. Should I port this policy for better service or keep this as a basic cover & go for a top-up plan?

BOI National Swasthya Bima policy is a Health insurance Policy designed especially for the account holders of Bank of India. The premium for this plan is quite reasonable. However you may compare the features & premiums of different insurance companies with their claim settlement ratio and take an informed decision. Since you were already insured for the last 5 years the premium will not be very high. ICICI Lombard Health Smart and Religare Health Care are recommended plans with good past record of claim settlement and reasonable premium. This way you will get a detailed understanding of whether to go for another insurer altogether or buy an additional top plan.
