India's only listed asset management company, Shriram AMC, has sought to revive its mutual fund arm with the prospective launch of a balanced fund.
The AMC recently filed an offer document with Sebi in this regard. As most balanced funds carry a moderate risk, the scheme has been colour coded as 'Yellow', owing to the exposure of 65 per cent of assets to equity.
Partha Ray would be helming the fund.
This is the second coming of the AMC in the fund industry as it had to wound up its operations earlier in 1994 after violating several of Sebi's guidelines related to fund management.
The AMC earlier managed two closed-end schemes- Shriram Tax Gaurdian 95 and Shriram Risk Gaurdian 96, with total assets close to Rs 21 crore (as on March31, 2000). The schemes were terminated in August 2001.
