'Growth investing will remain human-focused in future'

An exclusive conversation with Prateek Agrawal, MD & CEO, Motilal Oswal Asset Management Company

‘Growth investing will remain human-focused in future’

Model-driven vs human-led portfolios?

We at Motilal Oswal are all out growth investors. Growth investing is all about assessing future growth and, therefore, cannot be modelled by data. It requires active human assessment. That is why the predominant component (more than 98 per cent) of our actively managed assets are active-human driven assets. Growth investing, by design, will continue to remain human-focused going forward as well.

While there has been a marginal increase in redemptions over the last couple of months, it is generally due to the seasoning of assets and recent market volatility. However, we do not observe any significant impact of redemptions from digital platforms compared to traditional/ physical platforms. We are utilising customer interventions with analytics and martech tools that enable us to reach out immediately to customers who redeem and explain the importance of staying invested in the market during ups and downs.
