Choose Diversification over Sectors

Sector or thematic funds don’t make good long-term savings vehicles. Opt for diversified funds instead

I had started SIPs of Rs 15,000 per month in Reliance Diversified Power Sector Fund on April 15, 2010. Should I continue with this investment?

It’s a bad idea to be putting your long-term savings into a sector or thematic fund. They are not a good vehicle for regular investing, and are a bad starting point. About 2 years back, this fund was on top of the charts, but it hasn’t sustained its performance. We would suggest that you move all your accumulated money into other diversified equity funds. If you prefer a fund from the Reliance AMC, choose either Reliance Equity Opportunities or Reliance Regular Savings Equity, which are the only two good funds from this fund family.
