I am 31 years old investing Rs 8,000 every month through equal SIPs in HDFC Top 200, Birla Sun Line Frontline Equity, Franklin India Bluechip and HDFC Gold. Please suggest if this is the correct investment.

You have picked up some excellent funds and are doing it right by investing systematically. However, it is unclear why you have invested in HDFC Gold at this stage, when there is further scope for diversification of your portfolio. You should reconsider the 25 per cent allocation to gold at this stage and instead add a mid- and small-cap fund such as IDFC Premier Equity or Birla Sun Life Dividend Yield Plus, which are highly rated with proven performance history, to invest in. If you still want to invest in gold, then consider an allocation of around 5 per cent of the portfolio to such a fund.
