Minimum Period for SIP

Equity investments perform best over the long-term

What should be the minimum period of my SIP investment? What will give me the most optimum return?

Ideally, investing in equity should be for many years. It has proven to be the best performing asset class over the long term. As markets are cyclical, investing regularly through the lean period is very important as you are able to buy low. Based on the historic SIP investment in the Sensex, an investor would have always made more than a bank deposit over an investment period of about six years.
