About Sundaram Balanced Advantage Fund
Sundaram Balanced Advantage Fund is a hybrid mutual fund scheme of Sundaram Mutual Fund. Launched on December 16, 2010, it is currently managed by Dwijendra Srivastava, Bharath S and Clyton Richard Fernandes. The fund has an expense ratio of 2.31% with an overall AUM (Assets Under Management) of ₹1,565 Cr.
Sundaram Balanced Advantage Fund invests in a mix of equity and fixed-income securities. The proportion of the two is dynamically managed and may keep varying depending on the market outlook of the fund manager. The fund allows minimum lumpsum investment of ₹100 and minimum SIP of ₹100.
Investment Strategy
The scheme seeks to generate long term capital appreciation with relatively lower volatility by allocation of funds into equity assets based on Price Earning Ratio (PE Ratio) levels. When the markets become expensive in terms of 'Price to Earnings' Ratio'; the scheme will reduce its allocation to equities and move assets into debt and/or money market instruments and vice versa.

Capital Gains Taxation
The following tax treatment is based upon last 12-months asset allocation and may vary from other funds in the category.
- If the mutual fund units are sold after 1 year from the date of investment, gains upto Rs 1.25 lakh in a financial year are exempt from tax. Gains over Rs 1.25 lakh are taxed at the rate of 12.5%.
- If the mutual fund units are sold within 1 year from the date of investment, entire amount of gain is taxed at the rate of 20%.
- No tax is to be paid as long as you continue to hold the units.
