"The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it." This is Brandolini's Law or the Bullshit Asymmetry Principle. It highlights a significant challenge in our digital age. Coined in 2013 by Italian programmer Alberto Brandolini, the principle emphasises the immense effort required to debunk nonsense compared to the effortless ease with which it is created and spread. Brandolini formulated this insight after reading Daniel Kahneman's "Thinking, Fast and Slow" and watching a heated political debate on Italian TV. Having watched many TV debates in India, I fully sympathise with Signor Brandolini. The bullshit does tend to flow freely in political debates on TV. However, that's not my topic today.
