About Franklin India Retirement Fund - Direct Plan

Franklin India Retirement Fund - Direct Plan is a hybrid mutual fund scheme of Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund. Launched on January 01, 2013, it is currently managed by Ajay Argal, Pallab Roy, Anuj Tagra and Rajasa Kakulavarapu. The fund has an expense ratio of 1.59% with an overall AUM (Assets Under Management) of ₹508 Cr.

The scheme seeks to generate steady returns along with tax savings through a portfolio of upto 40% in equities with the balance invested in fixed income instruments. This is to ensure relative stability and deliver superior returns. The fund allows minimum lumpsum investment of ₹500 and minimum SIP of ₹500.

Capital Gains Taxation

The following tax treatment is based upon last 12-months asset allocation and may vary from other funds in the category.

  • If the mutual fund units are sold after 2 years from the date of investment, gains are taxed at the rate of 12.5%.
  • If the mutual fund units are sold within 2 years from the date of investment, entire amount of gain is added to the investors' income and taxed according to the applicable slab rate.
  • No tax is to be paid as long as you continue to hold the units.
