It's been six years since Value Research Stock Advisor launched, and the most common question I've been asked is, "What kind of stocks do you recommend?" My answer has always been straightforward: We recommend stocks that make you money.
Some people may find this response unsatisfactory and react like I'm dodging the question. However, that's assuredly not the case. They're looking for a jargon-filled answer, and I refuse to use that jargon. I intentionally avoid using the typical jargon many investors expect to hear, such as dividend stocks, value stocks, growth stocks, large/mid/small-cap stocks or contrarian stocks. These are all common ways of categorising stocks, and many investors anticipate an answer filled with such terminology.
Mind you, these classifications all have their role, but our Stock Advisor recommendations are not structured like this. Instead, we categorise our recommendations into two clear and intuitive groups; 'All-weather stocks' and 'Handpicked Stocks'. These names are self-explanatory.
All-weather stocks thrive under any economic conditions. They represent companies with strong fundamentals, consistent earnings and a proven track record of stability and resilience. These stocks are akin to the bedrock of a portfolio, designed to safeguard and steadily grow your investment regardless of market volatility. By itself, this category is ideal for investors seeking peace of mind and steady growth. However, to some extent, everyone should invest in these companies.
On the other hand, handpicked stocks are especially appropriate to invest in right now. They are, relatively speaking, the best buys now. The category description refers to stocks that, based on our research, are poised for significant short-term gains.
These opportunities arise from temporary market inefficiencies or particular catalysts that may drive stock prices upward in the foreseeable future. This category is more dynamic and can change frequently based on new information and market shifts.
We accomplish two things by this approach of dividing our recommendations into two groups:
- We provide our subscribers options that suit different investment styles and risk tolerances. This approach steers clear of traditional stock market jargon, focusing instead on the fundamental characteristics that matter most - potential for profit and suitability for varying market conditions.
- We provide a platform for our new members to start a portfolio quickly and build upon it. We recommend that when you become a member, you create a base of 'All-weather stocks' and regularly add the 'Handpicked stocks'.
The reason our categories are de-jargoned is that we align with your goals. Our philosophy at Value Research Stock Advisor is to demystify stock investing. Everyone deserves to understand where their money is going and why certain stocks are chosen. Therefore, we ensure that our recommendations are accessible and based on solid, understandable criteria, avoiding overly complex classifications that can alienate or confuse investors. This strategy makes investing more approachable and aligns with our core mission: to help you make money in the stock market efficiently and reliably.
