About BHARAT Bond ETF - April 2033

BHARAT Bond ETF - April 2033 is a debt mutual fund scheme of Edelweiss Mutual Fund. Launched on December 12, 2022, it is currently managed by Dhawal Dalal and Hetul Raval. The fund has an expense ratio of 0.02% with an overall AUM (Assets Under Management) of ₹6,338 Cr.

BHARAT Bond ETF - April 2033 has a fixed tenure and it invests in bonds whose maturity is in line with the tenure of the fund. Being passively managed, it replicates the portfolio of its chosen benchmark index. Upon the completion of the stated tenure, the fund will be wound up and money will be returned to investors along with accumulated gains. But they do not guarantee returns or safety of capital. The fund allows minimum lumpsum investment of ₹-- and minimum SIP of ₹--.

Investment Strategy

The scheme is to track the Nifty BHARAT Bond Index - April 2033 by investing in bonds of AAA-rated CPSEs/CPSUs/CPFIs and other Government organizations, subject to tracking errors.

Suitability

Target Maturity funds are suitable for investors:

  • Looking for a debt fund with high predictability of returns
  • Whose investment horizon matches with the fund's tenure
  • Looking to earn marginally higher than FDs of similar maturity, with low volatility

Note:

  • Unlike FD, there is no guarantee of returns
  • Not suitable for long-term wealth creation
  • Being passively managed, the fund replicates the portfolio of its chosen benchmark index

Capital Gains Taxation

  • If investment is made on or after 1 April 2023: Entire amount of gain is added to the investors' income and taxed according to the applicable slab rate.
  • If investment is made before 1 April 2023:
    • Sold within 1 year from the date of investment: Gains are added to the investors' income and taxed according to the applicable slab rate.
    • Sold after 1 year from the date of investment: Gains are taxed at the rate of 12.5%.
  • No tax is to be paid as long as you continue to hold the units.
