Week 35: Does Fund Size Matter?

The largest equity fund in India has a size of about Rs 19,000 crores and the smallest one is all of Rs 38 lakhs. Do they and all the funds in between give the same returns, regardless of size? It can be argued that large funds affect stock prices when they buy or sell thus pay a penalty for their girth. But one can also argue that larger funds have greater resources and expertise and lower relative expenses.
