Dhirendra Kumar suggests avenues to invest in for post-retirement income

What are the options in debt funds to generate a steady income after retirement? Would you suggest balanced advantage funds along with pure debt funds?

Balanced advantage funds could be a good supplementary deployment avenue. But if you need guaranteed income and would be depending on your investments for it, your first stop should be the Senior Citizen Saving Scheme (SCSS), the Post Office Monthly Income Scheme (PO-MIS) and the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY). All schemes combined, a good amount can be deployed for generating reliable income. Beyond that, if you have not invested in equity before, then the balanced advantage fund could be a good vehicle to begin with. It would be a conservative investment and this could help you supplement your income over a period of time because five years from now, if you need higher income, that is where it will come from.
