Quantum Mutual Fund has launched its 8th scheme, Quantum Multi Asset Fund. It is an open-ended fund of funds scheme that will invest across multiple asset classes predominantly in the schemes of Quantum MF whose underlying investments will be in equity, debt and gold. However, it may also invest in debt schemes of other mutual funds as and when required.
Investment Objective & Strategy
The scheme seeks to generate modest capital appreciation while trying to reduce risk from a combined portfolio of equity, debt and gold schemes of Quantum Mutual Fund.
It will invest 25-65% in equity schemes as well as in debt schemes. Allocation to gold schemes, though, will be limited to just 10-20% of its total assets. For liquidity purpose, it can also invest 0-5% in short-term debt instruments.
Fund managers will broadly focus on the relative valuations between the asset classes. Specifically, these factors will be considered thoroughly - Price/Earning ratio relative, relationship between earnings yield to bond yield to historical averages and finally, macroeconomic factors prevailing globally.
Chirag Mehta and Nilesh Shetty will be the fund managers. Mr. Mehta holds MMS (Finance), M.Com and CAIA degrees. With over 7 years of experience in financial services industry, he has been working with Quantum since February 2006 in different capacities.
While Mr.Shetty holds B.Com, MMS (finance) and CFA degrees. He has worked with ICICI Bank Ltd. as Officer; Pranav Securities Pvt. Ltd. as Senior Equities Analyst; and Edelweiss Securities as Manager Research. In December 2009 he joined Quantum Asset Management Co. Pvt. Ltd.
Quantum Mutual Fund has been around for more than six years and manages around Rs 197 crores as on March 31, 2012. Overall, it has one debt scheme, four equity schemes and the remaining two are gold schemes.
