Exiting Sundaram S.M.I.L.E. on the basis of its past one-year performance would be premature

I had invested Rs 7,000 in the Sundaram S.M.I.L.E. which is giving me negative returns now. Please let me know should I exit or hold on to this fund? Please suggest an alternate fund to invest in.

This is a mid- and small-cap fund which carries an element of risk that you should be aware of. The fund has negative returns for the past ne year, which is not the best time frame to assess equity mutual funds. In the long run the fund has been a performer and a fund worth investing in. It is too premature for you to consider exiting this fund at this stage. You should hold on for couple of quarters before reconsidering your decision to hold or exit this fund.
